ENGLISH

1º. GRAMMAR. Quantifiers

Before going to your Students Book, I would like you to have a look at this poster that AMANDA created last year. about the use of There is // There are  How much  // How many   and different quantifiers that can be used with countable, uncountable or both

The bottle represents something uncountable such as water or milk.
The pink square represents a box containing countable objects, such as balls, apples, marbles ...
Below the bottles you can see labels with the quantifiers that can only go with uncountable nouns (little, much)
On top of the squares you can see the quantifiers that can only go with countable nouns (a few, many)

On the line between the bottles and the squares you can see those quantifiers that can go both with countable and uncountable (no, some, a lot of)

You can also check the use of:
  •  There is (uncountable nouns and countable singular)  There is some milk. There is an apple.
  • There are (always countable plural) There are some apples

2º. Copy this poster in your notebook to help you understand and learn better.

3º Student´s Book  Read the green box on top of page 78.  Then copy and do Activities 1, 2, 4, 5 in your notebook.

Click on the book to get Listening for Activity 5

SOCIAL SCIENCE

1º. Go to page 61. Read the glossary words and study their definitions.

Check if some of the words are also in the bilingual dictionary. That will help you understand and study the concepts better.

2º. The last chapter of the unit is The Sectors of Economy in the European Union. Pages 52 and 53.

Read both pages as you listen to them

Page 52
In the Map of Europe included on page 52  United Kingdom (or Great Britain) appears as part of EU.
It is no longer  correct. UK left the EU recently (31st January 2020)

2º. DO Activity 1 a) and b).

3º. Summary

This chapter may be the most difficult part to understand ,if there is not an explanation from the teacher. For that reason I have created this summary to help you study what I think is most important.

Please study this summary.

As you can see, I have not included the names of the 27 member states of the EU, or the 19 countries that have Euro as a common currency. I leave it  for you to create the lists.

Here you can find an interactive worksheet to place the names of the 27 member states of the EU
